Night is not emptiness: it is the time when much of the living world comes alive. Animals navigate through the darkness using their night vision, their hearing, and even the stars.
The first light of the Universe is a video created with an infrared camera at the Nançay Radio Observatory as part of an artist residency conducted in May 2024 in collaboration with the CNRS. Conceived as a road movie between the starry sky and the Earth’s surface, the work accompanies an original musical composition by the PSR-QUARTET.
It offers a sensory experience of belonging to the Earth: by looking up at the sky, we come to better understand what is unfolding beneath our feet.
